5 years of exporting hydroponic vegetables from Da Lat

After 5 years of exporting Da Lat hydroponic vegetables to the Korean market, Truong Phuc Farm Co., Ltd (Nguyen Tu Luc Street, Da Lat) has been investing in expanding VietGAP production area, upgrading basic technology post-harvest processing and preservation to meet food safety standards according to the global value chain.

In early May 2021, Mr. To Quang Dung, Director of Truong Phuc Farm Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as Truong Phuc Company) provided reporters with an order to export to Korea hydroponic lettuce from July to September 2021 with a total output of 75 tons. This is one of the first orders based on a 12-month continuous contract of a Korean partner to consume hydroponic vegetables of Truong Phuc Company under the brand name "Da Lat - Magical crystallization from healthy soil". 
 
Specifically, the time to supply enough hydroponic lettuce production according to orders from Korea, the two sides have agreed on May 20 and 30, 2021, Truong Phuc Company will start planting 72,000 seeds and planting seeds, respectively. 70,000 hydroponic lettuce plants, cared for until July 10, 2021, and harvested about 20 tons. Similarly in June and August 2021, Truong Phuc Company planted 7 batches of hydroponic lettuce to harvest a total output of 55 tons according to the seasonal schedule in August and September 2021. 
 
“This is the 5th year, our company directly exports Lam Dong hydroponic lettuce to the Korean market, the monthly output will increase from 2 tons in 2017 to 25 tons in 2021. In which, worth said that in 2017 only 4 months of exportation, in 2021, the export contract will be for 12 consecutive months. And especially from mid-April 2021 when just signed the contract, the Korean partner has advanced to our company 50,000 USD…”, Director To Quang Dung said. 
 
According to Director To Quang Dung, in order to sign a contract to export hydroponic lettuce as stable as it is now, Truong Phuc Company has had a year of cooperation with a Korean partner to survey the cultivation and preservation process. post-harvest, soil and water samples analysis, market survey. The first shipment in mid-2016, Truong Phuc Company exported hydroponic lettuce by air with an output of about 500 kg/month, but only once or twice a month, mainly in the summer months. hot summer in Korea. And this is also the time when the Korean partner both supply and promote trade to access the consumption market share, and at the same time provide capital and technical support for Truong Phuc Company to upgrade the operation of preliminary processing line equipment, post-harvest preservation and packaging of hydroponic lettuce products produced on farm scale in Da Sar commune, Lac Duong district. 
 
By mid-2017, Truong Phuc Company switched to using sea freight services with a much lower cost than air freight, then gradually increased exports to 4 times a month, 2 trips each. tons of hydroponic lettuce arrives in Korea within a week from the date of harvest, preliminary processing, and packing at the farm, but still retains its freshness to consumers. Business activities ensure the prestige of the output, quality, and quality of hydroponic lettuce products produced from the farm in Da Sar commune, Lac Duong district to the dining tables of diners in Korean cities. Entering 2020, the two sides develop a stable partnership, under which the Korean side continues to invest in new vegetable varieties, advanced production technology and modern production lines. post-harvest preservation in an area of ​​more than 200 m2 at the farm of the aforementioned Truong Phuc Company. In particular, from the operation of the radial refrigeration equipment line, the hydroponic lettuce of Truong Phuc Company is always kept fresh until 15 days after harvest. As a result, Truong Phuc Company's export output of hydroponic lettuce to its Korean partner will reach 20-25 tons per month in 2020. 
 
Through the process of cooperation to expand the above-mentioned annual trade, Truong Phuc Company officially became an enterprise of Lam Dong province to enter the export of hydroponic lettuce in 2021 to Korea with a continuous output for 12 months. Each month, 25 tons per month are agreed in advance on the price, so revenue and profit will be increased by 10-15% in 2020 over 2020. Taking advantage of the opportunity to connect agricultural product consumption contracts in a long-term direction, Truong Phuc Company continues to invest in expanding by 1 hectare to increase the total area of ​​hydroponic lettuce to 2 hectares from June 2021.
